Pre-Enrollment Deposit and Refund Policy

Each new student is required to pay an advance tuition deposit. Deposits, which are applied against total tuition charges, full deposit balance is due on or before the second week of class.

A minimum $300 deposit is required to be paid in full, no later than the 2nd week of course.

This deposit will guarantee the current price and promotion for up to 60 days. Please follow the Terms and Conditions that MBM Financial has set for you.

Loan Contract

Enrolled students are responsible for full tuition upon commencement of classes with no exceptions. Failure to comply will result in the account being sent to collections.

Once a payment plan has been selected, an Admissions Counselor will explain payments and due dates.

Monthly, weekly, and biweekly payment plans are available.

Payment plans and due dates are not subject to class attendance, cancellations, or holidays.

If student undergoes monetary hardship they must contact Student Coordinator regarding financial loan.

Refund Policy

A career in makeup is increasingly attractive as it offers variety and is rewarding and a fulfilling way of earning a living. As a professional makeup artist your job is to fulfill a creative requirement. In a rapidly changing world in which computers are replacing people in so many areas of work we know for sure that no machine can ever replace the makeup artist.

 

WHEN WAS THE SCHOOL FOUNDED?

Sisters Alex Ruiz and Julisa Duran founded My Beauty Mark Cosmetics in 2008 shortly after they started My Beauty Mark Makeup Academy in 2011. Both Alex and Julisa were working makeup artist prior to starting My Beauty Mark. After years in the makeup industry they were offer a position as Makeup Educators. They took on the position and not only started educating but came up with a custom curriculum in which they both took part in creating. They were educators for 3 years before they decided to branch out and open up My Beauty Mark Makeup Academy of their own. They wanted full control over the environment, education and experience of their students.

WHAT TYPE OF WORK DOES A MAKEUP ARTIST DO?

The great benefit about a career in the makeup industry is that work can be very diverse – some of the areas you can work in are – weddings, formals, special occasions, film, television, fashion, photography, theatre, stage productions, makeup for advertising, catwalk, fantasy makeup, body painting, special effects makeup, talent to camera, feature films, video clips, musical productions, magazines, and makeup for television commercials.


HOW DO I CHOOSE A SCHOOL TO BECOME A MAKEUP ARTIST?

Start by studying with a professional makeup school. Ensure the trainers are currently working in the makeup industry and have extensive experience with an up to date portfolio that you can view. Ask to see their latest freelance work and ask who will be training you throughout all modules of your class. Ask to meet the trainers who will be teaching you and get a feel for their experience and knowledge of the industry.

 

WHAT SUBJECTS SHOULD I REVIEW AT SCHOOL TO HELP ME PREPARE FOR THE MAKEUP INDUSTRY?

Concentrate on creative subjects such as art, design, drama, dance and photography. You will also need great communication skills, marketing, business management and English.


WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO ADVANCE MY MAKEUP SKILLS?

Try and obtain a part time job in the cosmetic industry or retail fashion industry. Also consider hairdressing and beauty therapy as a sideline. Knowing how to cut and color hair is an advantage for film and international work. Learning about fashion is helpful for those wishing to pursue the photographic makeup jobs.

HOW DOES A MAKEUP ARTIST GET WORK?

A makeup artist would either work for a company or as a freelancer. They are also responsible for promoting themselves and marketing their skills. There are agencies for creative talent as well, who put makeup artists on their books and find work for them.

DO I NEED TO FINISH HIGH SCHOOL?

While a high school diploma or completion is not a requirement, we do recommend you finish your high school studies and major in artistic subjects. Start to concentrate on skills in the drawing and painting department.


WHAT DOES A MAKEUP ARTIST EARN?

A freelance makeup artist will develop their own pricing but you can expect to earn approximately between $60.00 – $200.00 per makeup application or you would work on a full day or half day rate. Each specialized facet of the industry has its own pricing structure. The quality of your work and your commitment to excellence are two deciding factors; next is which industry you choose.
The cosmetic retail industry is the entry level for many makeup artists. Many artists start at $12 - $26 per hour with or without sales commission. Artists doing bridal makeup make $75 - $1000 depending on location and the size of the bridal party. Production work is paid by "day rate" which averages $250 - $1500 per day for print, video, and runway work, and $400 - $850 per day for film (and time and ½ or double time for overtime).

DO I NEED AN ACCREDITED COURSE?

No, There is no need to spend an excessive amount of money on a training course to gain the appropriate knowledge. Your portfolio of work, personal presentation, professionalism and creative skills is what gets you work. Clients and creative agencies that are hiring a makeup artist will look at your portfolio of work and past experience only. Your reputation and artistic skills are the most important assets you can have. At My Beauty Mark Makeup Academy, we listen to the expectations of the makeup industry. Our training is based on hands on practical experience and helping you to build your portfolio of work.

 

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO HAIR?

We feel that it is important to know the general basics of hair styling.

*140 Hour Pro Artist Certification Hair & Makeup Course- In this course we combine the Pro Master Course and the Pro Hairstyling Course

CAN I WORK OVERSEAS?

Yes, you can definitely work overseas as a makeup artist. Obviously, you will need to obtain passport and correct working visas for the countries you want to work in. Being a Makeup Artist is like having a trade. It can take you to all corners of the globe.

DO I RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE?

Yes, upon successful completion of our professional courses, students receive a certificate.

DO I NEED A LICENSE TO DO MAKEUP?

In the state of California there is no licensing for makeup artistry.

IS THIS A COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL?

No, this is a makeup academy specializing in professional Makeup artistry and professional Hairstyling.

 

WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE & PROCEDURE?

Regular registration is up to 7 days before class starts. We take up to 30 students per session and spots fill up quickly. It is recommended to register sooner than later.

You can register by filling out the registration form online or in the studio, or you can request us to email you a form. To complete your registration, we must have a deposit. The minimum deposit varies depending on elected course.

HOW CAN I PAY FOR THE SCHOOL?

We accept payment via check, credit cards (we take all cards except Discover) and cash. You may pay in installments through in house financing. These installments must be made on or before due date.

 

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Deposits are not refunded. Once class begins students will not be refunded. If a student requests to interrupt enrollment for emergency/personal/medical reasons and want to re attend at a later date and if space is available an additional $250 fee will be added to registration.

 

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO ENROLL?

14, but you need to have a parental or guardian consent on hand and a copy of the parent or guardian’s legal ID.

 

DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL AID?

No, sorry, the minimum required by FAFSA to be recognized as a trade school is a 300-hour course.

 

WHAT DO I BRING TO CLASS?

You need to bring a notebook, a pen, and your current makeup kit.

 

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT PROMOS AND OFFERINGS?

While we constantly offer various promos to our prospective students, our current promotional offer includes: A student’s make up kit which contains the basic tools you will need to start your way and help you with your classes. We also offer you an additional 10 Classes for Life Promo which you can use after your 20 class sessions have been used up.

 

CAN I GET A MAC PRO CARD WITH THIS CERTIFICATION?

YES! MBM is one of the very few Makeup Academies recognized by MAC. We are not responsible for your Pro card and each student is responsible for applying on their own. You will have to contact MAC to receive more information.

 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM?
